This is a worker-led movement to unionize nonfiction television & film once and for all.

Nonfiction is one of the most exploited genres of television and film today. It includes numerous popular programs such as docuseries, reality television, true crime, cooking shows, documentary films, among many more. Although the entertainment industry is largely unionized and has been for decades, most nonfiction programs have managed to evade protections for their workers ever since the genre grew vastly at the turn of the 21st century.

Due to the brazen exploitation of nonfiction workers, the Writers Guild of America has been attempting to unionize the storytellers of nonfiction for about two decades — but it’s suffered from a plethora of setbacks and a lack of self-reflection due to limited control and oversight from the workers themselves.

The power and capability of a union comes from its workers. And for all the years that the Guild’s nonfiction union campaign has persisted, what’s always been lacking is a worker-led movement to help get us to the finish line. As the real force behind our unionization efforts, us nonfiction workers must rightfully lead the charge. We must stand up for ourselves to empower each other and build true solidarity as we work together to finally make this movement a success.

This website is dedicated to bolstering our worker-led movement to get us the essential things that we all need and deserve from our careers in this horrendously exploited field. We, as the writers, producers, and storytellers of nonfiction television and film, must lead the fight to unionize ourselves based on our own terms.

Below are some benefits us nonfiction workers could have that many tv/film union members already have:

•Pension
•Residuals
•Portable Healthcare
•Sufficient Minimum Rates
•Collective Bargaining

Among so much more…
